MAURIZIO ORLANDO

For as long as I can remember, I have always been a deeply visual person. Sensitive to people and their stories, I am fascinated by the human experience. As a child, if I could have chosen a superpower, it would have been the ability to experience life through someone else’s eyes.

Today, I am a photographer, and just as I did then, I love to immerse myself in the daily lives and intimacy of others, but this time, from behind my camera. I first studied management in Belgium before pursuing photography studies in Canada. I later joined the Hans Lucas agency.

Drawn to zones of tension and social issues, I traveled to Ukraine, where I worked for various media outlets. I have also covered the pension reform protests in France and the riots in Nanterre. Since late 2024, I have been working on a long-term series exploring the repercussions of the rigged elections in Georgia.

My photography is social, empathetic, and immersive. It aims to explore those singular human trajectories that run parallel to major news events.

I am fluent in French, Italian, English, Spanish. Intermediate in Dutch and Portuguese.
